WWI AUSTRALIAN FLYING CORPS

During WWI, the Australian Flying Corps flew aerial combat missions on the Western Front under the command of the British Royal Flying Corps.

Over 2,500 men served in the AFC during the war and several pilots became Aces including A.H.  “Harry” Cobby, Elwyn Roy King, Edgar McCloughry and Francis Ryan Smith.

Many of the AFC pilots later joined the Royal Australian Air Force which was formed in 1921

The Military Place carefully researches each patch to achieve authentic replication of size and color. However, due to lack of official standardization during the era to which the patch relates, and variations found, some elements may differ from historical documentation.
