During WW2 Lt Colonel Meyer flew with the USAAF 352nd Fighter Group and become one of their top scoring Aces with 24 aerial combat victories and 13 on the ground.

He later flew in the Korean and Vietnam Wars and received many awards during his Air Force career.  He retired with the rank of General.
