Oberleutnant (1st Lt) Walter Schuck was a fighter pilot who served in the Luftwaffe from 1937 until the end of WW2.  As a fighter ace, he claimed 206 enemy aircraft during 500 combat missions.

After training as a fighter pilot, Schuck joined Jagdgeschwader 5 (JG 5 - Eismeer).  This fighter wing flew combat missions across the northern section of the Eastern Front - the Arctic Front.

In April 1944 he was awarded the Knight's Cross of the Iron Cross for his military service.  And later received another Knight's Cross of the Iron Cross with Oak Leaves, after being injured in combat.

In early 1945 Schuck was appointed Staffelkapitan (commander) of III/JG 7 (Jagdgeschwader 7).  This fighter wing was equipped with the then revolutionary jet fighter Me 262.

In April 1945, after claiming a further eight aerial victories, he had to bail out when his aircraft was shot down by a P-51 Mustang. He sustained minor injuries, but they prevented him from flying further combat missions.

This pencil print has the autograph of Oberleutnant Schuck and is also signed by the artist.

Print Size 11" x 14"
