In the Battle of Thermopylae fought in 480 BC, a small force of Greeks, led by King Leonidas I, went up against a huge army of Persians, led by King Xerxes I.
The Greeks knew they were outnumbered, but were determined to fight to the death.
So when King Xerxes demanded the Greeks surrender their weapons, King Leonidas responded with the words “MOLON LABE” (Come and take them!)
