Medal of Honor recipient and America's ''Ace of Aces'', Major Richard I Bong.  

He flew with the 49th Fighter Group in the Pacific Theater of WW2 and was an Ace with 40 confirmed combat victories. 

During his flying career he was awarded the Distinguished Service Cross, Silver Star, Distinguished Flying Cross and Air Medal.
