WW2 332nd Fighter Group - The Tuskegee Airmen

The Tuskegee Airmen were African American military pilots and aircrew who fought in WW2, and formed the USSAF 332nd Fighter Group and the 477th Bombardment Group (Medium).

The group was awarded three Distinguished Unit Citations for their excellent combat record.  And were frequently requested by US Bomber crews as their escort on missions.

After painting the tails of their P-47s and P-51s red, they were nicknamed the, "Red Tails."

The "Red Tails" never lost a bomber that they escorted across the hostile skies of Occupied Europe.

Hand embroidered on a circle shaped background.

A beautifully made patch that represents a great deal of history and meaning. It will be framed. I was pleased to order another one for a friend. Thank you for the quick shipping!
