In 1942 Captain Clarence E. "Bud" Anderson, enlisted in the United States Army as an aviation cadet and received his wings in September of that year.
He was sent overseas and assigned to the 363rd Fighter Squadron, 357th Fighter Group based at RAF Leiston in England. From here he flew combat missions across occupied Europe becoming an Ace with 16 aerial victories. After completing 116 missions in his P-51 nicknamed "Old Crow" he returned to the US.
In 1970 he led the 355th Tactical Fighter Wing, an F-105 unit, during its final months of service in the Vietnam War.
Anderson was decorated twenty-five times for his military service.
